New Years Tradition

I'm pleased to say I was awake to see the New Year in, however it wasn't long after it that I was asleep on the sofa in Fabienne and Fabrice's gorgeous stone cottage.  Nothing at all to do with the company but probably a lot to do with the food, alcohol and excitement of finding a new "vintage" shop right in the centre of Creon!

We introduced Fabrice and Fabienne to the New Year's tradition of each couple cooking a course and spending the evening sitting around eating, drinking and chatting.  (Soph & Graham 's company and a trip to the village phone box were missed.)  Think this is my quietest New Years to date as in the words of Frankie "You speak French like a German" and despite my best attempts to improve my French by selflessly upping my wine intake, I was still unable to understand little more than "salut!".

And so we woke with fuzzy heads and the weather has changed to suit - grey and foggy.  A rather uninspiring start to 2011 - let's hope it doesn't continue this way.  There's a lot to look forward to this year - there's the addition to the Chadwick household with Matt's new best canine friend, Matt's 40th birthday with a celebratory weekend in St Petersburg and  John A's wedding, to be attended in full tweed suit?!

Bonne Annee toute le monde!
