Waitangi Day Celebrations

When you think NZ food, it's hard to think of a truly defining dish however I think I might have just pulled it out the bag...

For starters it was haute cuisine at it's best, Arnotts BBQ flavoured crackers, Burger Rings, Cheezels and chips (crisps to the Brits) with onion soup dip all washed down with Monteiths Summer Ale.  Who cares what anyone thought, it was pure junk food heaven.

If I may say so myself, we outdid ourselves with the main course though:  Ostrich steak with kumara chips and Watties finest beetroot, all washed down with a mighty fine Pinot Noir from Craggy Range.  How about that from someone who really doesn't like cooking?

If we hadn't scored 10/10 already, the pavlova certainly ensured the marks were well up there.  Hand made (Matt made) individual pavlovas coated in cream, passionfruit and kiwifruit and washed down with a fine NZ Reisling.  Sugar junkies eat your heart out!

The day could only have been topped if we'd been at home in the sun and been able to eat it all al fresco.  Hope everyone back home had a wonderful Waitangi Day xx
