Matt update

So much has happened since I last wrote and for the most part it's been good news all the way.  First up, Matt had a PET scan at the beginning of the month.  He was booked in for the PET scan as the Prof wasn't sure why Matt's leg occasionally goes numb and "limpy".  The PET scan results came through last week and there's been no change since 2008.  Great news, but that still doesn't solve the riddle of Matt's limpy leg.

After being turned down by numerous travel insurance companies for having a "terminal" diagnosis, for being too healthy and numerous other bizzare reasons, we finally managed to purchase single trip travel insurance through worldwideinsure.com.  Previously we've been able to purchase annual policies without much hassle so why Matt was made to feel like a victim rather than a survivor this year is rather baffling.

To kick off Matt's 40th birthday celebrations I treated him to a long weekend in St Petersburg with good mates, Jim and Debbie.  From take off to landing, the trip was packed full of memories, some of which are just a blur!!!  After a rather fraught flight on Air France, missed connections, stale croissants, explosive champagne, Rossiya Airlines transfers we finally landed at Pulkovo Airport and passed through customs without incident.  Our taxi driver, Leon, was waiting for us with a smile and gave us a guided tour on the way to our Hotel.  When we were greeted with champagne on check in, we knew we were going to like St Petersburg!

More about St Petersburg later though - it's the last day of the Easter long weekend, the sun is shining and  my sister and niece and nephews are headed our way for a picnic.  I'd better make sure there's some food in the house!
