London town

The morning after the night before! Time to head back to Rachel's where hopefully Syra hasn't disgraced us. We cunningly tricked the sat nav into avoiding another trek through central London and off we set - another two hour tiki tour taking in Harrods, Hyde Park and Picadilly Circus!!! I never thought I'd be driving right in the centre of London - my wee mini taking on London buses!!! Unlike the day before when we were racing against the clock in Friday traffic, we were able to take in the surroundings and Matt was surprisingly quite taken with London.

Making the most of being in London I'd booked tickets to see Lang Lang perform that night. The intention was for Matt & I to head into town and on to the concert but with all the excitement of the past couple of days, Matt opted for a snooze on the sofa and Rachel and I headed in to town. We strolled along the river, or should I say teetered in our silly shoes along the river, soaking in the atmosphere and the warmth of the sun. We were enjoying it a little too much and made it in to the concert moments before they closed the doors!

Lang Lang didn't disappoint. It was a concert about pure enjoyment of music - the orchestra might not have been perfect but hell did they enjoy performing. Watching the conductor, his expressions and gestures was entertainment in itself and Lang Lang performing Gershwin was just the icing on the cake. If only I'd practiced my scales a bit more!
