Running to raise awareness

Last year I was moaning about needing another challenge, well, in addition to Matt & Syra, I've got another one!  John Stanford has done a phenomenal job of organising a world record breaking relay around Great Britain, RelayGB. Individuals or teams can sign up for the various legs, all marathon distance and all to be completed sub 4 hours.

In typical Kris style I signed up for the marathon leg and then joined two more teams - Team SBS and Team Chadwick.  In January I was a bit of a local celebrity with a radio interview on BBC Oxford and my photo in the Banbury and Oxford papers!  Life as a Z list celebrity in Banbury knows no bounds!!!

Training started off ok - I was motivated by some training in the sunshine on the beach back in New Zealand and then spurred on by the Silverstone half marathon (1 hour 46).  However, shortly after the Silverstone half marathon I lost momentum and confidence and thought that maybe I had slightly over committed myself given everything else that was going on.  As a result, I'm gutted to say that I've pulled out of the marathon leg - the one starting right in front of Buckingham Palace.  I am however still doing a marathon, just as two half marathons as part of the teams - on Monday 7 May from Glastonbury - Bath, starting at 0530 in the morning and then on Tuesday 8 May from Stourbridge - Bridgnorth starting off at 1400.

The money raised through sponsorship will go towards research into Brain Tumours - 2 people every hour are diagnosed with Brain Tumours and yet we still no little about them.  My sponsorship page is:
