Ascot darling

It was forecast to rain all day.  We missed our first train by seconds.  Nigh on 2 changes and 2 hours later we arrived at Ascot...

Did any of that matter?  Hell, no, we'd finally made it to Ladies Day at Ascot!  We timed our arrival perfectly so we could pop the champagne and toast the Queen as she came past in her carriage.  After welcoming Aunty Liz we claimed our patch next to a hen party and tucked into our scrummy picnic.  Sated and a bit sozzled, we placed our first bet on Estimate, the Queen's horse and came up trumps!  We won a whole £17!!!  I was so stoked, I've never won anything in my life.  The afternoon proceeded with people watching, 2 bottles of champagne and some serious people watching.

Just when we'd run out of champagne we were joined by a group of lads who'd just won considerably more than we had and were treated to Pimms and ice cream.  Not bad for a lass in a borrowed dress and fascinator!
