The Prof v Registrar

Matt spent most of Sunday in bed feeling terribly tired and rather tetchy.  He bounced back Monday morning though and was ready to head up to Birmingham for his Oncology appointment before me!

As next Monday is a bank holiday, Matt's Onocology appointment was brought forward a week as they combined the two clinics.  We settled in for a long wait but rather pleasantly, it was only an hour's wait.  Dr Spooner was away on holiday so we saw the registrar again.  Matt's blood tests are all good - his white blood cell count is still "normal" so she prescribed another round of Temodol to start on Monday 26 August.

Unlike the Prof, she seemed to think there was little that could be done about Matt's speech - he could form the words ok with his mouth - and that's what a speech therapist would be able to help Matt with.  Matt's speech difficulties occur in the brain when he is trying to find the right word to say.  I guess we'll just wait and see - if I know Matt, he's determined to prove everybody wrong when it comes to the tumour & surviving.
