COVID-19 disrupts 2020 travel plans

I set a personal challenge to visit three new countries each year.  2020 started off well with a visit to the Philippines in January.  Country number two was going to be Denmark with a long weekend in Copenhagen in June.  Countries three (and four, five and six) will hopefully be South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho in September.

Now that I'm officially one of the 1.5 million in the UK who have been advised by the government to stay at home for 12 weeks, my long weekend in Copenhagen is off and will have to be rescheduled.  I was so looking forward to the 24 hours of daylight, having drinks in Nyhaven, exploring Torvehallerne Street Food Market and pootling around the canals in a go-boat.

Another trip that I was looking forward to, and booked in December last year, was to Germany for the christening of my nephew, Lars 😍.  The christening is on May 23 so sadly that's a life event that I'll have to participate in virtually.  The most exciting part of that trip was I was asked to be his god mother!!!😱

And then of course there's Easter.  My super relaxing, super healthy yoga break at Rosy's Little Village on Agistri Island in Greece will just have to wait until next year.  I really hope they run the same course over Easter 2021.  In the meantime I'll just have to find my inner zen doing Yoga with Adrienne on Youtube!

One thing's for sure, COVID -19 certainly has caused global disruption.  NZ has closed its borders for 4 weeks so I can no longer go home if I want to.  Who knows what the world will look like when the lock down ends - or when it will even end.
